1. Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy - Policy Statement
AMP’D Music School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children. We believe every child has the right to learn in a safe, positive, and supportive environment, free from harm and abuse. Our Tutors work within the guidance of:
• Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025)
• Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023)
• The Children Act (1989 & 2004)
• UK GDPR and Data Protection Act (2018)
Aims
• To protect pupils from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation
• To ensure all Tutors are trained and DBS-checked
• To create a culture of vigilance and transparency in every school we visit
Responsibilities
• Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Richard Bates – Managing Director

• All Tutors must complete safeguarding training and immediately report concerns to the DSL and to the host school’s safeguarding lead. Reporting If a child is in immediate danger: call 999 Otherwise: inform the school’s safeguarding lead and AMP’D Music School’s DSL immediately. All concerns must be recorded factually within 24 hours.
Recruitment & Vetting
• All Tutors hold Enhanced DBS checks
• References and ID are verified before starting work
• Induction includes safeguarding and conduct training
2. Health & Safety Policy Statement
AMP’D Music School is committed to providing a safe working and learning environment for pupils, Tutors, and partner schools.
Objectives
• Prevent accidents and injury through awareness and training
• Ensure all Tutors follow school safety procedures and emergency plans
• Conduct regular risk assessments for instruments, movement of equipment, and lesson environments
Tutor Responsibilities
• Comply with all local school safety rules
• Report hazards or incidents immediately to the school and AMP’D Music School management
• Ensure cables, stands, and instruments are safely set up and supervised at all times
• Keep pathways and fire exits clear
Accidents
• In case of an accident, the school’s first aider will take lead responsibility
• Tutors must complete a written report and share it with AMP’D Music School within 24 hours
3. Data Protection (GDPR) Policy
Purpose
AMP’D Music School collects and processes limited personal information (names, contact details, lesson records) to support tuition and communication with schools.
Principles
We adhere to the UK GDPR principles of:
• Lawfulness, fairness, transparency
• Purpose limitation
• Data minimisation
• Accuracy
• Storage limitation
• Integrity and confidentiality
Key Points
• All data is stored securely and only accessible by authorised personnel
• Personal data is never shared with third parties except where required by law or safeguarding procedures
• We do not record or photograph pupils without explicit school or parental consent

4. Tutor Code of Conduct
Professional Standards
Our Tutors are ambassadors for AMP’D Music School and are expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity at all times. Tutors Must:
• Treat all pupils with dignity, fairness, and respect
• Always work in visible, open environments
• Use appropriate language and maintain professional boundaries
• Report any safeguarding or wellbeing concern immediately
• Respect school rules, schedules, and staff authority
Tutors Must Not:
• Use personal phones or social media to communicate with pupils
• Give or accept gifts from pupils
• Transport pupils privately
• Photograph or video pupils without explicit consent from the school
Dress and Conduct
Tutors should dress appropriately for a school environment and maintain a calm, encouraging tone in all lessons.
5. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy
AMP’D Music School is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all pupils, staff, and partners.
Our Principles
• Every child deserves equal opportunity to access music education
• We value diversity in culture, ability, background, and expression
• Discrimination, harassment, or victimisation of any kind will not be tolerated
Implementation
• Tutors promote respect, cooperation, and inclusion in all group work
• Lessons are adapted to accommodate differing abilities or needs
• We work closely with schools to identify and support pupils requiring adjustments
6. Complaints Policy
Purpose
To ensure that any concerns or complaints are handled fairly, promptly, and transparently.
Process
1. Informal Resolution:
• Minor issues should first be discussed directly with the Tutor or school contact.
2. Formal Complaint:
• Submit written details to: info@ampdmusicschool.co.uk • The Managing Director will investigate within 10 working days.
3. Outcome: • Complainants will receive a written response detailing findings and any actions taken.
• If unresolved, the issue may be referred to the partner school or local authority. Confidentiality All complaints are handled sensitively, respecting privacy and data protection principles.
7. Risk Assessment Policy Commitment AMP’D Music School recognises that proactive risk management is essential for safe music teaching across multiple school environments.
Approach
• Generic and site-specific risk assessments are completed for all teaching activities.
• Risks are reviewed annually or when activities or venues change.
• Tutors are trained to identify hazards and act to reduce them immediately.
Common Considerations
• Equipment safety
: stands, cables, instruments, electrical items
• Manual handling: transporting instruments safely
• Group management: maintaining safe numbers and supervision
• Fire safety: awareness of school procedures
• Infection control: cleaning shared instruments and mouthpieces All assessments are documented and stored securely for audit and review.
